Fernando Pages Ruiz has been building affordable homes for over 20 years. A Licensed General Contractor in California and Nebraska since 1984, he has run Brighton Construction Company, Inc., in Lincoln, Nebraska, since 1992. Since moving from Los Angeles to Lincoln, Ruiz has focused on affordable, high-quality housing and now build building approximately 30 homes a year.
Ruiz has also worked on National Public Radio and Pacifica. He is a Contributing Editor toYoga Journal, where one of his profiles was nominated for a Maggie Award by the Western Magazine Association. He has written for a wide variety of consumer publications on topics ranging from the physiology of consciousness to Latin American machismo. His first book with Taunton,Building an Affordable Housepublished in 2005.
